Gryphon Digital seeks court dismissal of Sphere 3D’s lawsuit
Crypto miner Gryphon Digital is seeking dismissal from a lawsuit brought by its previous partner Sphere 3D over a spoofing attack that resulted in 26 Bitcoins (BTC) being moved to a deceitful address.According to the preliminary problem filed by Sphere 3D in April, Gryphon CEO Rob Chang supposedly wired 18 BTC in January to a scammer posturing as Sphere 3Ds primary monetary officer through a spoofing attack. Gryphon declares, however, to be a victim of Spheres “gross negligence” that allowed a destructive actor to gain access to Spheres computer system, send out spoof e-mails from its domain, and trigger Gryphon to send cryptocurrency planned for Sphere to the assaulter. “Spheres utter and total lack of care with respect to the securing, security, and control of its technology systems resulted in Gryphon sending over $500,000 worth of bitcoin to the hostile danger actor, which Gryphon has been not able to recuperate”, checks out court files submitted on Aug. 18.
